How to set up remote learning
We expect that remote learning will take pupils approximately the following number of hours each day:
- Nursery and Reception: one to two hours per day
- Years 1 and 2: three hours per day
- Years 3, 4, 5 and 6: four hours per day
Top Tips for Remote Learning
It is important that the conditions are suitable for children to be able to learn at home:
• Stick to a familiar routine as much as possible with your child, including set wake up and bedtimes.
• Design your day in a way which best suits your family/work commitments/lifestyle.
• You may find it helpful to create an informal timetable or ‘to-do’ list (see example timetables below).
• Ensure that your child takes regular breaks from learning activities and screen time.
Remember: short bursts of learning with regular breaks is much better than a long, unproductive learning session.
Wellbeing Wednesday
Wellbeing Wednesday is a timetabled break for families and an opportunity to turn off screens each Wednesday afternoon. Ideas for screen free activities for families can be found on DB Primary. Wellbeing Wednesday is inspired by the 5 Ways to Wellbeing – an evidenced-based approach to improving your mental health:
