At Ark Bentworth Primary School, Religious Education (RE) plays a vital role in helping our pupils understand the diverse world in which we live. In line with the National Curriculum, RE encourages children to reflect on different faiths and worldviews, fostering respect, curiosity, and critical thinking.
Each half term, we dedicate a full day to the study of one of the five major worldviews: Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and Humanism. This immersive approach gives pupils the chance to explore beliefs, practices, traditions, and values in depth. As children move through the school, they build upon their prior knowledge, making meaningful links across year groups and developing a rich understanding of religion and belief.
Where possible, children also have the opportunity to visit places of worship or significant cultural sites, bringing their learning to life and helping them appreciate the lived experience of different communities.
Through RE, we aim to prepare our pupils to engage with the world with openness, empathy, and a strong sense of their own values.
